Masala Lemon Tea – No Added Sugar

When I had been to Chennai last week, I was staying at my friend’s place and she said she had found this amazing tea recipe online and we decided to make it while we waited for another friend of ours to arrive.

Even though didn’t have cinnamon, that was a pretty great tea! Here is the tea we had that day: It’s the Indian Masala Chai by Nandita from Saffron Trail

Today has just been one of those days, when you simply want to curl up in your bean bag in a corner and work. When there is no power on a chilly evening I start craving tea. So, decided to try something new. I’ve been trying different versions of lemon tea and by far todays tea has been the best one.

So, I was remembering the tea we made the other day and couldn’t help wondering what would happen if I added the same spices to the regular tea? Since I couldn’t find the original recipe in time thought I would make something of my own with the same technique.

Ingredients

3 Cloves
1/2 inch Cinnamon
2 Cups Water
1 teaspoon Ginger powder
1 tablespoon Tea powder
1/2 Lemon
1 tablespoon Honey

Steps

  1. Take a small pan and dry roast the cloves and cinnamon for about 2 minutes. Crush it and set it aside
  2. Take the water in a pot and add the crushed mixture, ginger powder and tea powder and bring it to boil
  3. Remove from the heat and add lemon and honey, stir well and serve
